GMail + GMail musings…
Had 6 GMail invites this morning, and gave them all out to people on the aus-dotnet mailing list…
Admittedly, I did not request for them to do anything to earn one. I could easily have asked something in return.
Could have asked them all to go sign up for a blogger.com account and post at least one post, and upon receiving the GMail invite they have to post at least a few times…
Hrm, maybe next time i’ll do that
I guess until they are a “free for all” (no invites required) this will still go on.
Only reason I wanted one was to see what all the hype was about.
Now that I have one, I see that they have injected some innovation into emailing.
And now we see that the “mature” (have been around for awhile) web based email providers are also going down the path of big inboxes. Although it is a good thing, what they require is to inject a bit of innovation into their email services, something to excite the masses.
GMail has a feature called “conversation” which is much akin to topic “threading” on web forums. Why is this so significant?
Well, many of us now days do use web forums. I know I do, i’m a member on many of them.
