#develop 1.0 released – free .NET IDE
I just received an email saying that #develop 1.0 has been released and ready for download over here.
If you haven’t heard about #develop, then I suggest you do take a look at it. Check out the many features and take the features tour.
#develop is basically an open source .NET IDE. Originally only had support for C#, but that was awhile ago, and now it also support VB.NET.
Personally, I think they’ve done a great job. I remember when I first tried #develop when I was just starting to program with C# back in 2002. I was already impressed about what they had done, so I can only imagine what they have now would be even more impressive.
It’s definately the way to go if you just want to play around with .NET with a nice free, and open source IDE.
Hope somebody out there finds #develop useful, I think it’s something students and hobbiest should try out if they don’t want to buy VS.NET and yet still want to see what .NET is about.
Good entry point, and you can even open VS.NET projects in #develop, so that’s pretty useful!
