Pen enabled SmartPhone anyone?

Imagine yourself using your PDA to make a phone call.

Yep, I know, it is already available as a PDA Phone.

You make calls by tapping your stylus on the screen.

Next think about making a phone call using your first mobile phone (that had a colour screen).

Now imagine grabbing that stylus and operating your mobile phone.

Ok, so what am I getting at?

Well, WACOM have released something they call the W8002 (maybe it needs a better codename? Link is to press release…) single chip solution which is an inductive pen sensing technology. [More news articles available via Google News]

Basically it is a cordless and batteryless pen which enables you to write on surfaces such as your mobile screen without actually needing to touch the screen.

This is really interesting technology, just imagine the different types of devices that could benefit from having a stylus.
