Backing up your blog
So does anyone out there make backups of their blog entries?
If so, how?
Do you simply backup your blog via SQL? Or do you write them locally and paste them into your blog?
I was just reading Tatham’s blog and he accidentally deleted all of his blog entries and has no backups (aside from the archives he has in RSSBandit).
So, if you haven’t got a backup plan for you blog (as you probably do for all your other important information), you should be thinking and implementing one.
As for me, I’ve just backed up my database via the Control Panel provided by my host.
Also, if your hosting provider ever decides it’s time to get rid of the server currently hosting your blog, then chances are on the rare occassion, you may lose a post or two (at the minimum) from your blog.
Sometimes life just throws you a tornado, those of us who came prepared will survive with all the important posessions still in-tact. Others may also survive, but they realise they’ve just lost everything.
So if you do treasure certain things such as your blog entries, make sure you do a regular backup!

Hi Will,
I just came across your blog… There’s also a script out there that works with WordPress 1.2, which backs up the database and your entire wordpress installation, which is handy if you ever stuff something up.
It’s available here.
