Sonoma and Portege m200
I know the Sonoma announcement is going to be tommorow (over in USA), but they had their Australian one today.
I really hope they are planning a revised version of the Portege m200 Tablet PC which utilises Sonoma.
Although the Satellite based Tablet PC is going to probably have aSonoma based model, I think there’s still a market for the m200 utilising what Sonoma has to offer.
Why? Well, the weight factor.
At 2.72kg (6lb), that’s a few hundred grams heavier than my Tecra M2 (which weighs 2.25kg or 4.96lb).
The Portege m200, comes in at 2kg (4.4lb).
Though there are several factors to consider, the m200 has a smaller screen, and no optical drive(s).
Personally, I like the weight of my Tecra M2. It’s quite nice, and has quite similar specs to the Toshiba Satellite R15.
And the extra stuff that Sonoma would bring to the m200 would be nice too.
- 802.11a/b/g Wifi
- Dual Channel DDR2 RAM
- 533MHz front-side bus
- PCI Express
- 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound
- Display Power Saving Technology v2.0
- Lower powered DDR2 RAM
- Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology.
Some of the above would do well in a Tablet PC.
I’d like to see the newer SpeedStep, Lower powered DDR2, Display Power Saving Tech 2.
The above 3 should hopefully enhance battery life.
The rest that I listed would be nice to have too
