OOJS and Ajax

Tuesday, June 28th, 2005

Oh look, so Microsoft is creating an Atlas hey?
Actually, it’s their codename for their new “Web client framework” which will provide us (developers) with tools for developing AJAX style applications.
I think what web developers really want is a really good JavaScript IDE. Well, I do anyway… And i’ve seen lots of posts around to place [...]

Climate change, and the need to act now

Monday, June 27th, 2005

Just saw this news article while playing around with this news map application.
It’s a flash based web interface which shows news stories from Google News. The most talked about news items get a bigger box (talked about items are ranked by how many related articles there are). A very interesting approach at laying out the [...]

What is RSS?

Sunday, June 26th, 2005

I’m sure there are companies out there that are just hearing the news now that Microsoft plans to integrate RSS heavily into Longhorn, and many companies will be going “What the heck is RSS”?
Because you know, Microsoft is so big and all that, companies really stand up and take notice when they do something. You [...]

The week that was

Saturday, June 25th, 2005

A short summary of the week thus far…
Monday went to MEDC. I think aside from the keynote, the most interesting session (to me anyway) was the mappoint one that Dr Neil did. Not to say the other sessions weren’t that interesting.
But rather, there was probably more things in that session that interested me than [...]

Hello Melbourne!

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

It’s now been a few months since I’ve joined the Melbourne Metroblogging team (RSS), but i’m still there and blogging. (If you don’t see me blogging here, there’s a chance that i’ll probably be posting on the Melbourne Metroblog!)
We’re currently looking for more bloggers to get involved in our Melbourne blog, which is a part [...]

Exchange Server and Outlook Web Access

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005

Just been reading this blog post by Jim Van Eaton which briefly describes the history of Outlook Web Access (OWA) and it’s journey to today.
Interesting, and we have them to thank for the core of Ajax today (XmlHttp).
I’ve been looking through the exchange blog a bit lately, and I think one of the most interesting [...]

A new blogging engine?

Tuesday, June 21st, 2005

I admit i’ve given this a little thought, but not too much. But i’m sure i’m not the only one with this viewpoint.
There’s not enough choices when it comes to blogging engines based on ASP.NET.
There’s ComminityServer’s blogging engine. And there’s dasBlogs, and then there’s a few other ones people have written themselves for their own [...]

Off to MEDC Australia

Sunday, June 19th, 2005

If anyone’s going to MEDC (Mobile Embedded Developer Conferece) tommorow in Melbourne, then see you there! (I’m not hard to spot. And they usually have name tags for these events, so i’ll be wearing mine! Or if they have the MSDN Connection Lounge, i’ll probably be in there at some stage)
Off to bed now.

Senator Bartlett analyses the PM

Thursday, June 2nd, 2005

About to fall asleep right now, but briefly skimmed over this blog post by Senator Andrew Bartlett. (Just posting this so i’ll re-read it again when i’m more awake.)
He’s done a bit of a breakdown of John Howards’ interview on ABC Radi0’s AM program.
I’ll admit I haven’t really been following this issue too closely [...]
