The week that was

A short summary of the week thus far…

Monday went to MEDC. I think aside from the keynote, the most interesting session (to me anyway) was the mappoint one that Dr Neil did. Not to say the other sessions weren’t that interesting.

But rather, there was probably more things in that session that interested me than the others. (Oh, and also the SQL Server Mobile session was quite interesting too).

The ones about the Compact Framework were in some cases seemed like just introduction to the whole platform, while good for some who haven’t done anything in it before, it just ok to me. (Guess what i’m looking for is probably going to be at TechEd… and that i’m expecting a bit too much from MEDC.)

I actually read on a blog that over at the recent Malaysian MEDC they had “hands-on-labs”.

Maybe it’s time to download the new CF.NET SDK and play around myself :)

It’s definately been awhile since I’ve done any Compact Framework stuff (the last time would’ve been in Dr Pete‘s subject back in 2002). It’s quite an interesting platform with much potential, obviously… It’s one of those exciting areas since mobility seems to be the way of the future. Accessing your email while on vacation (um, is it really vacation when you’re doing work?), or because you’re a frequent traveller and need to check in to see if there’s any important emails you missed while you were away. Or just simply jumping on IM and doing a bit of chatting.

And there’s supposed to be a MEDC DVD coming via snail mail (though I think one of the speakers was jetlagged and said they’d be coming via the email… either that, or I need to get my hearing checked!). It’s basically the DVD of the stuff from the US event (me thinks).

Ok, well that was Monday. And onto Tuesday, that was my birthday.

And now, I think i’ve had enough of the tennis for one night. Time for bed. And some much needed sleep.
