Is world peace achievable?
I was having a bit of a look around the web for links on introducing someone to Buddhism, and came across a link which has the following words in the top image on the page:
“World Peace: Everyone’s Business!”
And here’s the actual content of the page:
Most of us in this world do not want war and yet we are unable to stop the war and violence from happening. It is because we share this common karma.
What can I do to contribute to World Peace ?
If we want to survive this calamity, all the peace loving people of this world should unite. With loving hearts that are true, sincere and compassionate, let us pray together reverently for everlasting world peace.
How ?
Let our minds unite by making a sincere wish for peace. We can each pray in our own way, regardless of nationality, race, religious beliefs, time and location. The primary aspiration is to pray with true sincerity to resolve all conflicts and attain peace.
I sincerely hope that all the kind and good people of this world will share in our wish. Together, let us all respond to this kindest act of praying together for world peace. If we can all do so, indeed, it is most fortunate for our world!
In my mind, it is a fair point.
Ignore the fact that it’s from a Buddhism website, but focus upon what the content actually says. If everyone believes world peace is achievable through prayers, then by all means this could well catch on and become more of a reality than it is now. It may if we truly believe in it, pull us out of this current situation with regards to all of the natural and unnatural disasters happening world wide.
So no matter what religion you believe in, when you have time this weekend, pray for world peace and encourage others to do the same.
Even those “extremists” responsible for the recent bombings and terrorist attacks believe in a religion. Perhaps there is a chance that prayers for world peace can indeed change the world for the better. Do you believe that it’s possible for world peace through prayers? If you do, then try putting it into practice. You may be just one single individual, but that’s one more person hoping and praying for world peace than there would be the other way around.
This is not a message to all to go out there to try to convert people to a particular religion. That’s just the wrong approach to take I think.
Religion is a personal choice undertaken by an individual. Not something that should be forced upon an individual.
Just one last thing, if you at any stage feel some anger start building up inside you, pause for a second, calm down, and think before you say or do anything else.
Think about what impact your words may have on others, in particular the person/object you are about to get angry with. Is anger really worth it?

How much is your blog worth?
Over the weekend I started playing with Blogshares.
It’s an interesting idea – a virtual share market…

if world peace was possible through the divine intervention than God would never have created war and those who are praying for peace are praying for it to happen on there terms, peace is a condition just like war, and it is a condition which causes disatisfaction just like war the only reason war happens is because people are not satisfied with the conditions in which peace exists so instead of praying for peace maybe we should pray for the mental unity and equality for mankind, people in Nigeria are humanbeings just like people in China, Pakistan, France and Brazil and NewZealand we should pray that people recognize each other as people not the enemy, it shouldn’t be about us versus them it should be about recognizing that they are us.
