VDNUG Hands On Day
Woke up at 6am on Saturday, had some food and out of the house by almost 7am.
A nice, bright, sunny day.
First thought of the day, maybe I should head to the beach?
But no, Saturday was the day for the Victoria .NET (VS2005/Sql Server 2005) Hands on Day. The event actually started at 8am. (Which is my normal weekday start time). I could see quite a number of sleepy people amongst the gathering of 80 attendees.
It was a fairly interesting couple of presentations nonetheless. Dr Pete and Bill (McCarthy) did a live web cast of their presentation. Though, part way through, the LiveMeeting session they were using decided to play up.
The web cast setup was quite interesting I thought. A mobile phone for the audio, and Microsoft LiveMeeting for the “video”/screencast.
So after the LiveMeeting session decided to play up, they were left with only audio from the mobile phone.
I wonder who’s paying for the mobile phone bill?
Perhaps they could try using Skype next time for the audio? Or even MSN Messenger???
A big thank you to all those who helped with the organising of the event. I thought it was a good idea. And i’m sure everyone else in the room enjoyed it too! Final thought, it sold out too quickly
(I think that’s a good problem to have…)
