ASP.NET Web Hosting recommendations wanted

Does anyone have personal recommendations for web hosting providers?

My requirements are:
- ASP.NET 2.0
- SQL Server 2000 (or 2005)
- Up to 5 domains
- 1GB web space

I guess i’ll leave it at that as the base requirements.

As for price range, probably no more than $30AUD.

So far, I’ve looked at:
Studio Coast
WebHost4Life

Although WebHost4Life seems to be offering more, at this stage, Studio Coast seems a better option because I’ve read much negative reviews about WebHost4Life (and Studio Coast is an Aussie company — supporting something local is always good!).

But i’m welcome to any other thoughts others out there may have on other providers within a reasonable price range?

Thanks!

have you spoken to ICO – http://www.ico.com.au

they are really good guys and always willing to help

Hi Frank, no I haven’t spoken with ICO.

But according to their website, they don’t do “shared hosting” anymore. But they do offer “Virtual Dedicated Servers” at $199 per month, which is out of my price range for what I want to do (just wanting to host a website for a few personal projects — and one domain for my brother).

I am using GoDaddy.com. 9.95 a month. A bit expensive than others but good support.

    Try http://www.serverintellect.com or aspnix.net

serverintellect have excellent support, although beware of Medium Trust.

Our company has been using WebHost4Life ever since ASP.NET 1.0 came out. I’ve interacted with them often and feel that their support is very good. Much better than others I’ve dealt with.

  7. Dave Says:

Lars – that’s a question for Frank Arrigo (above). I was a user of aspxconnection too. It’s a real pity it has gone!

  8. Frank Arrigo Says:

it was closed down, due to lack on interest. seriously

we’re working on something even better.

I signed up with WebHost4Life as it looked pretty good. That’s until you try and add additional Domains.
When I added my second I was told it would cost $15 / Year. Then I tried to add emaill accounts and was told that would cost $10 / Year. That’s $25 per year per domain.
I’m waiting to hear from them to see if this is a mistake.
